an interesting sign on the way to Mbale.
Some Ugandans like to have their picture taken, so they pose for you...such as this man on "fabric street."
the cow at the top of the mountain. I wonder how he got up there?
the bus depot "supermarket"; no need to leave the bus...they will come to your window!
the laundrymat at the top of the mountain.

A Few Pictures

I've doctored this photo, but I just thought he was so cute he had to be included.

In Soroti, at the airstrip, there grows a plumeria tree. As we were walking along the cracks in the ground called to me to put down the flower and snap this shot. Everyone thought I was a little nuts and laughed at my silly antics, but I think it was worth it.
This woman and her family passed us as we were climbing up Mt. Wanale. Her son was ahead of her carrying his younger sibling, she as you see was loaded down, and her husband came behind with NOTHING! Culturally this is acceptable, but it sure left an impression on us.

After Thoughts

One of my favorite memories was at the village church we visited. Not all villagers have money to give for an offering, so they bring what they have--food. The day we were there an older woman brought some passion fruits and bananas to give. When this happens, the church holds an "auction" and some one who has money "buys" the food, but does not keep it. They give it to someone who has need in the congregation, or if there are visitors that day they give it to them. We were blessed with the bananas and I think the special speaker received the passion fruits.

This village was on fire for Christ. They were out everyday they could be going door to door telling people about Christ, and when they have them they pass out Bibles. This church probably had 30 to 40 people in it, but they have planted 2 churches already and the men take turns going to each church every week (two by two) to pastor the people. I felt like I was inside the book of Acts while we were there.
