Week 4

Are you sure this is only week FOUR!!! We ran 8 miles today. WOW!!! I think I was about one month away from my event last time I got up to 8 miles and I thought that was a long way then. I did not have a chance to practice this week because of illness and a crazy work schedule, but surprisingly I felt really good out there today. Good company always helps with that. Well, I should say I felt really good until about mile 7 or so, and then my feet hurt a bit (new shoes) and I was just getting tired (so I cut my last couple of run cycles a little bit shorter); but then we saw the turn off for the end and WOOOHOOOO!!! I don't know where the energy comes from, but I sprinted past Donna and headed in for the promised peanut butter bagels! Yummy!

What a beautiful morning to run along the CW trail. It started to cloud over and spit at us a bit on the way back, but beauty is there even in the grey. The birds don't care they just sing anyway. To me, that is an encouraging sound.

Well, I am now clean and fed and somewhat refreshed, so I better get this wedding gift wrapped and head off to the happy event. Thanks for cheering me on ~ AGAIN. I still don't know why I do this "for fun", except that it's a great cause, and I LOVE KIDS!!!! I hate to see any of them hurting, but it is quite a lesson to me to watch their determination through such anguish. Kids just accept things as they come and make the best of it. What great teachers they are to we older people who "forget" to do that sometimes.

Cheerio everyone. I pray you have a Christ-filled day today.
Love always,
Eryn

Running Journal

I FOUND MY WATCH!!!! YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess where it was......
Yep, in my car!
Apparently I had "cleaned" it up one day, and threw everything in a little bag with no memory of what was in there.
Thank you Father! I was not looking forward to spending the extra money to get a new one.
O HAPPY DAY!
later, figure skating is back on.

"Psalm 139:

Lord you have searched me and know me.
You know my comings and goings.
How precious are your thoughts to me.
You know me completely Lord.

You knit me in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am wonderf'lly made.
All of my days are ordained by you.
You know me completely Lord.

Chorus:
You made my inner most being.
My frame was not hid from you.
How precious are your thoughts to me.
You know me completely Lord.

Search me, O God, and know my heart.
Test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there be an offense in me.
And lead me in life everlasting.

Chorus again."

Just a daily reminder from God to you.
Happy day.

Run 2010

So, I have been pondering this running thing. I have determined that it is not taking as much effort to run the same distance as it did last season. YEA!!! Although, I must say that I have lost my watch somewhere, so I have not been doing consistent intervals like I was last time. Perhaps that is a contributing factor, but I also (sometimes) feel stronger than when I began last year (unless I run up Steilacoom hill too fast and drain all the strength (and oxygen) out of me...for a while anyway). Praising the Lord for that. Perhaps 26.2 isn't so crazy after all. Nah...it's still crazy, but at least I have another crazy runner friend to take this journey with me. Praising the Lord for that too. =0) He's so good to me.

Marathon Stuff

Have you checked out my website yet????
Click the "Superheroes" link above and see why I am running 26.2 miles.
(it's not for fun!!!) =0)
The more money you donate, the further I run!
Okay, that's not really true. I'm running 26 (.2) miles whether or not you give; but the more you give the more kids you help.
Yes that was an unashamedly brash plea. =0]
Our coach told us at practice yesterday morning that our team has already raised over $12,000 BEFORE THE FIRST PRACTICE EVEN HAPPENED!!!! That is amazing! Truly AMAZING!!!
$0.93 of every $1 goes to fight children's cancer AND it stays LOCAL. All the money goes to the Seattle Children's Hospital.
Everyone needs a superhero to believe in...you could be that hero to a beautiful child and her family.
Your pledge not only gets me across the finish line, it will help countless kids get across that finish line too.
Who's with me???

Adventures with Jazz

Okay, the "Dog Story" : (my curfew has passed by 9 minutes, so I'll make it short) =0)

Thursday night we let the dog outside, as he requested, and didn't think anything about it for awhile until Mom noticed his incessant barking (or that he hadn't requested in yet and opened the door and then noticed the barking). He was back under the trees in the back of the yard barking at something with great fervor. So she went out to call him in, and I decided to see what was up, so I slipped on my shoes and headed out too. Jazz was VERY excited, hence he was not listening to our commands to leave whatever he was so taken by and come in. Mom went and got two flashlights and shone them around where he was, but we couldn't really see what it was. It looked to me like a cat so, I climbed through the trees to try and see what it was, but couldn't really get close enough to see for sure. The fur that the light caught looked like a cat to me, but I couldn't understand why it didn't just run away from this yappy dog. I yelled out that it was a cat, and my Mom didn't agree (wisdom always trumps youthful inexperience). On an instinct, I thought it would be a good idea to pick up one of the forked branches I saw lying on the ground in front of me. The one I chose broke, but it was a big enough piece to make noise and push at the critter if I needed to. While I was coming out of the trees, my Mom had finally gotten the light on it enough to see that it was an opossum and...it's mouth was OPEN!!! NOT GOOD! Jazz being the stupid dog that he is sometimes, decided that it would be a good idea to get closer to this critter. At one point they were face to face about 5or 6 inches apart, with the possum judging when would be a good time to attack this mangy nuisance in front of him. Well, now knowing what it was, and realizing that our yelling and stick cracking wasn't going to scare it away, and Jazz not understanding that this critter could mangle him with one or two bites; I raced around the left side of the trees, next to the fence, trying to get to Jazz, so i could grab his tail and yank him out of there. As I approached him, he decided to move around 90 degrees to the possum. I still had the stick in my hand so I thought it a good idea to keep banging it on the tree branches to try to get the possum to leave, and this time it WORKED! Maybe i just smelled offensive to him. Unfortunately, when the possum took off, so did Jazz. I'm sure the neighbor were wondering what was going on, especially then Mom and I both let out a frantic yell as our knuckle-headed dog went chasing after this creature that could kill him if it wanted to (it was only a little bit smaller than he). Since Mom was not in the trees she took off after him, and I got there a few seconds later. The possum stopped over by the chain link fence on the right side of the yard, under the cover of the more dense trees there, and thankfully Jazz stopped out where we could see him. I told Mom, who was closer, to just grab his tail and pull him out, at the same time being concerned that Jazz might turn around and try to nip her (he's done that before when he forgets who it is that's grabbing him). Thankfully he didn't, and I scooped him up and we walked back into the house, allowing the silly opossum to wander on his merry way. I must say I have never seen a possum move so quickly before. Phfew! My adrenaline is up just recounting it, not as much as it was that night, but enough. =0) We had to put Jazz in the sink to clean off the tree junk and dirt that was all over him. Poor thing thought he was getting a bath (not his favorite thing to do) and he really needed one, but it was too late. He would never dry before bedtime. After he was released from "detention" in the sink, and his customary rug rub after getting wet, he curled up in his bed and had puppy dreams about this great adventure of chasing (and catching I'm sure) his foe. The only casualty was my white sweater that I was wearing. There was green grass-like "branch" stains and bark and dirt all over it, front and back. I sprayed it with stain stuff and let it sit for a day, but Mom figured a little bleach would be better (once again wisdom over inexperience). I must say it looks pretty good now. THANKS MOM!!! =0) Jazz is still having dreams about his great adventure. It's very cute to watch his little paws twitch as he "chases" his foe, corners him, "chases" him again, and then...in his version...I am sure he dreams about what ever you are supposed to do with a cornered foe.
Quite an adventure.

Well, it's now past my bedtime. That took longer to tell than I thought it would.
Have a loverly day today.

Here I go again...

Training for the Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon officially started yesterday. I however "cross-trained" that day because I didn't have time to actually run; but I think a quick walk with a good friend and Karate class count as cross-training, don't you?

I just got back from taking my dog out for some training, but I cannot find my runners watch anywhere, so I had to estimate how long I ran and walked. I think I walked a bit more than I should have because I did not complete my circuit nor the 9 sets of 1:1 walk:runs and the 3 sets of 2:2 walk:runs. Not even close! Perhaps I shouldn't have messed around with trying to get my mp3 player to sit just right in my ear so much? Besides that it started to rain pretty good, so I decided it was time to turn back. Jazz did NOT agree, so we had a tug-of-war for a little bit, until he noticed the other dog coming from behind him and decided that it would now be a good idea to go in that direction. After a quick "meet-n-greet" we headed home. It's a good thing too, cause I have just enough time to finish this, change my clothes, grab a lunch, and head off to work. I am really trying to not be late anymore. It's still hit and miss, but improvement is coming.

Ciao for now.
