Week 5 recap

So last Saturday we ran 10 beautiful miles around Point Defiance and around the Vassault Park area. It was a bit nippy in the park beacause of all the gorgeous trees, but the views and the company were well worth the chillyness. It still takes my legs about 3 miles to "warm up" and quite cramping around the ankles, but at least I know that know, so I don't complain as much as I did last season. By the time we got to the half way point I felt really good; however, I started to run too fast during my two minutes of run time and slowly petered out about a minute and a half into it!!!!! I KNOW BETTER, but my legs want to run faster. If I stick with Donna's pace like glue, then I have energy at the end to sprint to the finish line, but my brain tells me it's too monatenous, so then I pick it up a little and ~ like a punctured balloon ~ I fizzle! Since we are going about 12 miles this week I think I will stick with Donna like a fly sticks to flypaper. Okay, maybe not flypaper...it's hard to move your legs that way, but you know what I mean. =0) Perhaps that will also alleviate the pinching pain I felt last Saturday in my hip. I think it is just an alignment issue and as soon as I can I will go see a chiropracter. We shall see. I had the same pain yesterday when I went out for my 40 minute practice run, so I cut it a little short and headed home. Maybe I just need someone to come walk on my back for me? I always thought that was fun to do to my Dad as a kid. It's a balancing game. =0)
I attached the map of our run for Saturday to the right of this posting, so if anyone wants to come out and cheer us on, or man a water stop, or even RUN with us...we would love to see your faces. =0) Thanks for praying for us (Donna and me). The prayers of the saints is what sustains us ~ well that, and the Joy of the Lord!
Happy week to you.
Eryn
